Remember the Torch of Freedom by Edward Bernays: DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE NEXT FACADE!

As a nation we seem to be repeating the patterns of how, why and when society will be shut down by a new variant similar to the patterns of Covid-19 Lockdown.

WE THE PEOPLE need to make a stand and make sure we DO NOT COMPLY.


“Edward Bernays was able to accomplish all he did in part because of a dogged determination combined with an inventiveness that set him apart from his contemporaries and make his ideas as relevant in the 1990s, when there are 125,000 PR practitioners in America, as they were in the 1920s, when he and a handful of others got things going. When he spoke, his words could sound ponderous and pontifical. But his spirit was electric, and his enthusiasm was so infectious that many who’d heard a single speech decades before, or studied with him for one semester, could recite his every phrase years later. He would tell you he knew something about everything, that his ideas were radical, that he, Edward L. Bernays, could change not only the way people bought but the way they thought. And watching his grayish-blue eyes light up you couldn’t help but believe him, at least for a while.”(2)

“But Bernays was also a bundle of contradictions. He rode roughshod over young staffers even as he ballyhooed the virtues of tolerance and democracy. He promoted cigarettes, which he suspected were deadly, at the same time he was promoting national health insurance. He espoused women’s rights but often treated his female employees, and even his wife, like indentured servants. And he continually capitalized on the fact that he had outlived all his contemporaries—he died in 1995 at age 103—to advance his contention that he, more than they, deserved to be called the prince of publicity.” (2)

When one reads about the Torches of Freedom that Bernays created. We can see how he used tobacco seed money to pay professionals and activists to be involved in his ploy and lies in order to participate in his psychological warfare against Americans, women and humanity to put blood money back into the tobacco companies bank accounts and the Crony capitalist hands.

“In the 1920s, it was considered taboo for women to smoke in public. George W. Hill, president of the American Tobacco Company, realized that his company was missing a share of the market. He hired Bernays to change the taboo and persuade women to start smoking. Bernays contacted psychoanalyst Abraham Brill to understand the societal perceptions that discouraged women from smoking. Brill told him that for feminists, cigarettes were like “torches of freedom” that symbolized their nonconformity and freedom from male oppression.” (3)

“Bernays used this information to build a strategy. He contacted a female friend and asked her to find a group of women to march in the New York City Easter Day parade. He asked her to tell the press that a group of women’s rights marchers would light “Torches of Freedom“. The women lit Lucky Strike cigarettes in front of the eager photographers. The New York Times (1 April 1929) printed: “Group of Girls Puff at Cigarettes as a Gesture of ‘Freedom'” (3)

“In the 1930s, he attempted to convince women that Lucky Strike cigarettes’ forest green pack was the most fashionable color. Letters were written to interior and fashion designers, department stores, and prominent women of society pushing green as the new hot color for the season. Balls, gallery exhibitions, and window displays all featured green after Bernays got through with them. The result was that green did indeed become a very popular color for the 1934 season and Lucky Strike kept their pack color and female clientele intact.” (3)

Covid-19 might be called by a different term, but it is the same strategy Bernays and his gang of professionals and money grabbing corporations, elitists, crony capitalist’s and bought off politicians have done to get richer and make the poorer more poor and even cause death to fit their criminal agenda.
